Masterclass A: Probity in practice: how to ensure active integrity across the procurement lifecycle

clock-three
09.00
Probity is too often treated as a signature at the start of a process. This masterclass reframes it as an active, ongoing discipline that runs from planning through to contract close. Working through real scenarios drawn from Commonwealth procurement environments, participants will identify what probity risks look like in practice, how to recognise and respond to them as they emerge, and how to build a culture here integrity is maintained without slowing the process down.

By the end of this masterclass, you will be able to:

  • Explain probity as an ongoing obligation rather than a one-time compliance task
  • Identify and document conflicts of interest as they emerge, not just at initiation
  • Recognise the probity risks most common to Commonwealth procurement: gifts, unsolicited proposals, evaluation conduct
  • Apply proportionate controls at each stage of the lifecycle
  • Conduct your own team's probity review with confidence

Masterclass B: How to improve your procurement business writing - statements of work, evaluations and debriefs

clock-three
09.00
Poor statements of work are one of the most consistent failure points in government procurement. They give suppliers too little to work with, produce responses that are hard to evaluate consistently, and create debrief conversations that go nowhere. This full-day masterclass takes practitioners through each stage: how to structure a statement of work that gives suppliers what they need, how to run an evaluation that is rigorous and defensible, and how to conduct a debrief that leaves unsuccessful suppliers better equipped next time.

By the end of this masterclass, you will be able to:

  • Structure a statement of work that reduces ambiguity and improves response quality
  • Design an evaluation methodology that is proportionate to the procurement and defensible under scrutiny
  • Score and document evaluation consistently across a panel
  • Give a debrief that is genuinely useful to the supplier without compromising probity
  • Identify the most common mistakes at each stage and how to avoid them
